3rd Annual Forum, "Shout Heard "Round The World - Blazing Trails to Freedom: The Underground Railroad in Texas."

Holiday Inn on the Beach, 5002 Seawall, Galveston, Texas.
Thursday's activities include registration and a tour of African American
Historic Sites with tour guide, as well as a tour of Moody Gardens,
including an IMAX® 3D Theater presentation. Friday's Forum includes
a Genealogical Workshop, a keynote address by Diane Miller, National
Parks Service Coordinator, who will speak about Preservation & Family History.
Saturday's session includes a presentation by Carl Westmoreland of the
National Underground Railroad Freedom Center, who will speak about Heritage
Tourism and International Relationships.

Annual Galveston Juneteenth Jubileee Parade

11:00 a.m.
This festive parade features 70+ units marching from
21st and Harborside to Wright-Cuney Park on 41st and Ball.
The parade will be kicked off with gospel singing and a re-enactment of the reading
of the General Order 3 from a balcony at 21st Street and Strand.

International Freedom Institute Awards Dinner Theater Presentation

The COLONEL Paddlewheeler, Moody Gardens.
The International Freedom Institute Conductors Award is modeled
after the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center award.
The award is to recognize contemporary individuals who, by their
actions and personal commitment, reflect the spirit and courageous
actions of the "Conductors" of the Underground Railroad.
The Conductors risked their lives and livelihoods to help those who sought freedom.
The "Stationmaster" is one who has been a cornerstone in his community and has shown
steadfast subsistence in providing safe haven, direction and information to their
community.

From the County Courthouse to a prayer service at the Reedy Chapel,
participants are invited to follow the route taken June 19,
1865 by those who heard the message of freedom in the reading
of General Order 3 and proceeded to Reedy Chapel for prayer and celebration.
